Relevance of 21st Century Accounting

The Financial Times posted today a letter from the Society expressing our concern that investors are not finding the information they seek in documents governed by modern accounting practices and are turning to sources of extra financial information. The National Academy of Sciences looks into this issue at the 23 June conference described below. Read the FT letter. The value of intangible assets is the difference between a company’s book value and market capitalization; that value averages 70% of a company’s market capitalization. Intangible assets comprise business processes, patents, trademarks; reputations for ethics and integrity; quality, safety, sustainability, security, and resilience. The Intangible Asset Finance Society provides a forum for finance, innovation, legal and management professionals to discover better ways to create, capture and preserve the value of these assets. Please visit the Society's Membership page.
